They don't last forever but they work great. Our turtles (and the catfish and goldfish) splash a lot but the bulb trucks on like it's no big deal. The lap is safely away from the water and rarely gets "wet" but I have no complaints. The turtles seem to enjoy basking and they get plenty dry and warm under it. My only complaint is that the Petco near me rarely carries them so I order multiplies here on Amazon. I show up the day their trucks arrive and they're Lways out or didn't order them. If you're shopping around I've yet to see a retail have the same prices...
